Seminars
Neal & Wright LLC offers periodic informational seminars on a variety of legal topics. We hold all seminars at our office on Saturday mornings from 10-12, and we provide free coffee and donuts. No RSVP is required, but it is nice to hear from those who plan to attend so we can make sure to have enough java & Krispy Kreme!
Here is a list of upcoming seminars:
• Trademarks, Trade names, and Copyrights
What is Coca-Cola's most valuable asset? Perhaps the topic gives it away, but suffice to say, it is not a bottling plant! On March 6, 2010, we will review various kinds of intellectual property, including trademarks, service marks, trade names, and copyrights. Dan Wright will lead attendees through the basic legal framework, applications, and practical aspects of each, including the benefits and requirements of official registration.
Previous seminars have included the following topics:
• Adoption Options (Reprise)
Back by popular demand, attorney Sherry V. Neal took attendees through the legal and practical aspects of adoption, including the kinds of adoptions (foster care, relative caregiver, stepparent, second parent, and international), working with adoption agencies, and choosing a lawyer. Please see the previously published article (below) for a quick summary of the topic.
• What Do I Do If I’m an Executor? A Probate Primer
This seminar covered basic probate concepts, including what to do if you are named as the executor of a Will or become the administrator of an estate, with a focus on the practical aspects of the roles of executor and administrator. Please see our short article summarizing the topic.
• Adoption Options
Everything you wanted to know about the legal and practical aspects of adoption from types of adoption to selecting an agency or attorney to financing your adoption. Please see our short article summarizing the topic.
• I Don’t Have a Lot of Money, So Why Bother With Estate Planning?
Our most popular seminar to-date focused on the basics of estate planning and potential hazards of leaving matters unattended. We brought it back in November after we had a great turn-out in June of 2008. Please see our short article summarizing the topic.
• Practical Tips for Starting Your Own Business
This seminar focused on the practical aspects in forming and running your own business—focusing on the entrepreneur’s perspective rather than legal minutiae. Please see our short article summarizing the topic.
Please note that dates are tentative and subject to change. Please check back periodically for more information and new seminar dates. Future seminar topics may include reprises of our former seminar topics or the following:
• Estate Planning Basics
• What You Need to Know about Real Estate Law
• Special Needs Trusts
