Giving Back To the Community

We believe in giving back to the community that supports us. We do this in four ways: by offering free informational seminars to the community, through involvement in community service organizations, by offering pro bono legal assistance, and through charitable giving.

Seminars

Neal & Wright LLC offers periodic informational seminars on a variety of legal topics. We hold all seminars at our office on Saturday mornings from 10-12, and we provide free coffee and donuts. No RSVP is required, but it is nice to hear from those who plan to attend so we can make sure to have enough java & Krispy Kreme!

Here is a list of upcoming seminars:

November 15, 2008: I Don’t Have a Lot of Money, So Why Bother With Estate Planning? [Back by Popular Demand]

Please note that dates are tentative and subject to change. Check back periodically for more information and new seminar dates. Future seminar topics may include:

• What Do I Do If I’m an Executor? A Probate Primer
• Anatomy of a Commercial Real Estate Deal
• So You Want to Adopt…

If you have an idea for a seminar topic or would like additional information about a seminar listed above, please contact Sherry at sherry@nealandwright.com.

Community Service

Sherry and Dan are involved in a variety of community service work. Sherry is currently President of the Peachtree Atlanta Kiwanis Club, a global organization of volunteers dedicated to changing the world, one child and one community at a time. Check them out at www.peachtreekiwanis.org.

Dan and Sherry both are active with a new community service group, Koi – Creating Change Through Service. This group, consisting of young professionals in the Metro area, participates in a variety of volunteer events throughout the year.

In addition, both Dan and Sherry are active in their neighborhood association, Lake Claire Neighbors (LCN), and volunteer with a variety of neighborhood improvement projects. Dan served as the vice president for public safety for LCN for two years. Dan is also active in his alma mater’s alumni society.

Pro Bono Service

Rule 6.1 of the Georgia Rules of Professional Conduct provides that “[a] lawyer should aspire to render at least (50) hours of pro bono publico legal services per year.” Sherry and Dan render pro bono legal services to a variety of non-profit organizations and other clients, both independently and through organizations like the Atlanta Legal Aid Society and the Atlanta Volunteer Lawyers Foundation.

Charitable Giving

Sherry and Dan are proud supporters of the following non-profit organizations:

  • WABE
  • Atlanta’s local NPR affiliate
  • Zoo Atlanta
  • One of Sherry & Dan’s daughter’s favorite places
